GIGA NETWORK – trade fair stand and network-like light installation

Client Vodafone  Event CeBIT  Year 2016-2017  City Hanover, Germany  Area 2500 sqm

WHITEvoid creates a concept and designs the trade fair stand and exterior area for Vodafone’s appearance at CeBIT 2016 and 2017 in Hanover. A multiple-stories high and topics diversified architecture integrates the monumental 3D light installation composed of hundreds of light elements with individually controllable single pixels. The light animations indicated the dynamics of the Vodafone brand and symbolized flashing, luminous and abstract communication network.

The 2016 presentation covers three big topics in telecommunications: Internet of Things, Unified Communications and Cloud & Hosting. Vodafone is staged as an innovative business enabler and the enabler stories are told through selected reference customers.

All areas of the stand are connected through the network-like light installation – the symbol of gigabit network. The visitors can experience the speed of network represented by light in every part of the trade fair stand. The installation is inconspicuous but omnipresent.

In 2017 WHITEvoid further develops the concept. The five large LED walls structure the room in the vertical plane and with video content connect the space beyond the boundaries of the areas. Depending on the application, it presents topics of the GIGA worlds, or offers a possibility to connect the areas overlapping one another creating a single overall display. Dynamic lighting structure is synchronized with LED walls, creating the visual choreography of the whole space.

The modular principle of the light installation is followed by other elements in the space. All furniture and objects were composed of rectangular grid modules of different sizes. In this way, the necessary flexibility with regard to the various showcases was ensured, while at the same time a coherent overall picture was created. As a visual metaphor, the furniture in the network formed the data packets that were traveling within the network.
