FREQUENCIES – interplay of light, color and sound

Event CTM Festival  Year 2019  City Berlin, Germany

A real-time translation of sound waves into light across a linear array of pixel controllable light fixtures, with each color assigned to a specific frequency and beat. The colors move through light rods to the music and create a mesmerizing display in stark contrast to the brutalist architecture of the concrete hall.

In FREQUENCIES, WHITEvoid’s founder Christopher Bauder uses live music as material and digitally translates different frequencies of sound into a rapidly-changing generative color palette composed of thousands of pixels.

With this intimate and fun light installation, Christopher Bauder contributed to CTM Festival’s 20th anniversary. FREQUENCIES illuminated a skating rink installed in the Halle am Berghain during CTM festival and offered visitors a bright and joyful experience.
